Bagration memorial complex unveiled after renovation
The military memorial honoring Operation Bagration in Svetlogorsk District was officially reopened on 23 June after renovation. The date was no accident: 82 years ago, on that very day in 1944, Operation Bagration began, one of the Red Army’s largest offensives of the Great Patriotic War and one of the biggest military operations in history. A moment of silence was observed in memory of the brave liberators and innocent victims. Flowers were laid at the monument as a sign of deep respect for the heroes’ immortal feat. Igor Sergeyenko, Chairman of the House of Representatives, delivered a greeting from President Aleksandr Lukashenko to those gathered for the reopening.
