Vitebsk marks 1,052nd anniversary
On 26 June, Vitebsk marks two festive dates at once: the 1,052nd anniversary of the city’s founding and the 82nd anniversary of its liberation from the Nazi German invaders. The events began with a rally on Victory Square. Representatives of the authorities, public associations, residents, and guests of the city laid flowers at the memorial complex in honor of the Soviet liberator soldiers, partisans, and underground resistance fighters of Vitebsk Oblast. Participants in the patriotic ceremony paid tribute to the feat of the victorious generation and honored the memory of the fallen, including civilian victims of punitive operations.
