Landmarks of Belarus. Carthusian Monastery in Bereza
The Carthusian Monastery in Bereza is an architectural specimen of the 17th century, included in the State List of Historical and Cultural Heritage Sites of Belarus. Construction of the monastery began in 1648 and continued for 40 years. The fortress-monastery was built in the shape of a pentagon and occupied an area of over 6.5 hectares. Only fragments of the complex have survived. Restorers are currently carrying out routine repairs on the historic perimeter wall at the site. The work is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
