Beach rowing sprint championships in Brest
Brest was the first in Belarus to host the beach rowing sprint championships. On 14 and 15 August, spectators on the central embankment and the city beach watched the qualifying heats, preliminaries, quarterfinals, semifinals, and final races. Beach sprint rowing competitions begin on dry land, with an athlete running down the sand 10-50m and into the water before entering the boat, rowing 500m as fast as possible, and then exiting the boat for a sprint back up the beach to the finish line.
