Sabalenka claims maiden Miami Open title
MINSK, 30 March (BelTA) — World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus beat home favorite Jessica Pegula to win the career’s first-ever Miami Open title, BelTA learned.
The three-time Grand Slam champion scored a dominant 7-5, 6-2 win over the fourth seed Pegula to claim 19 WTA titles and the eighth WTA 1000 crown.
On her way to the final, Aryna Sabalenka did not lose a single set, defeating Bulgaria’s Viktoriya Tomova (WTA ranking No. 64), Romania’s Elena-Gabriela Ruse (102), China’s Qinwen Zheng (9), Italy’s Jasmine Paolini (7) and American Danielle Collins (15), who won this tournament in 2024.
