Expert comments on West’s reaction to placing Oreshnik on combat duty in Belarus
Aleksandr Tishchenko News of the story «On Point» Expert comments on potential for deploying weapons in space Expert: Approximately 600,000 have deserted from Armed Forced of Ukraine MINSK, 2 November (BelTA) – In a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA’s YouTube channel, national security expert Aleksandr Tishchenko commented on the reaction of the West and neighboring countries to the announced deployment dates for the Oreshnik missile system in Belarus. He noted that while such agreements were reached earlier, the recent announcement of the system being placed on combat duty in Belarus has triggered a visible surge of alarm in the West and neighboring countries.
“Any strengthening on our part causes panic and hysteria,” the expert said. “In this regard, they certainly won’t like the Oreshnik, because their leverage is becoming weaker and their reach shorter. How can they possibly influence us? The more counterweights and checks we have, the harder it is to pressure us,” Aleksandr Tishchenko said, explaining the logic behind the reaction to Belarus’ strengthened defenses.
The expert is convinced that this response was expected. “Their own military preparations are somehow blurred by our acquisitions, be it nuclear weapons, the Oreshnik, or the new Russian systems that have sent reverberations across the military landscape. Of course, the West and our neighbors won’t like this. After all, how can they pressure us if we demonstrate a willingness to respond?” he concluded.
