Belarus’ self-exiled opposition criticized for crazy smear campaign targeting labor migrants

Dmitry Krutoi MINSK, 25 April (BelTA) – Self-exiled opposition members, who have fled the country, exploit young people in order to increase the hype surrounding the possible arrival of migrants in Belarus, BelTA learned from Head of the Belarus President Administration Dmitry Krutoi.
A reporter of the First News TV channel asked Dmitry Krutoi who may benefit from exciting the Belarusian society with fears connected with the arrival of migrants.
Dmitry Krutoi said: “Our self-exiled opposition obviously benefits from it. There is no doubt that they are disconnected from all the realities happening in the country and they try to present any hot-button topic using the style of crazy fakes, which are particularly prominent considering the example of the Ukrainian crisis. The same model of information propaganda is used against Belarus, too.”
The head of the Belarus President Administration pointed out that since 2020 Belarusians have gained not only certain immunity but also certain ways of counteracting similar fakes.
“It is bad that in order to spread all these crazy narratives, they try to exploit young people, who don’t seem to properly understand what is going on, on the one hand. On the other hand, they totally don’t understand the responsibility they may face as they pick up these seemingly hot-button topics that allow cranking up views on Telegram or TikTok channels. They [young people] don’t understand the damage they really cause,” Dmitry Krutoi said.
