Belarus’ MFA comments on Easter truce declared by Putin
An archive photo MINSK, 20 April (BelTA) – The Republic of Belarus welcomes Vladimir Putin’s decision to declare Easter truce with Ukraine, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
“This move was taken on the eve of Easter, which makes it particularly significant and symbolic, as Easter is equally revered by three fraternal nations — Belarus, Russia and Ukraine — as a time of peace, humanism and renewal,” the press service said.
“We hope that the truce will lead to de-escalation of tensions and will allow moving on to a diplomatic settlement,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
